Wexford Racecourses |
| |
Steeped in tradition and deriving its name from its Viking heritage, Wexford has always been foremost in the breeding of horses in Ireland. Jumping is particularly associated with Wexford and many of Wexford's native sons as well as her horses have achieved outstanding National Hunt success.
The earliest records of racing here took place on reclaimed boglands in the 1870s. By 1902, however, this had ceased and racing commenced again on the present course in 1951.
The course is only 15 miles from the major sea port of Rosslare.
